06/28/09- We had a vendor booth for Go-Kustom at the Greenwood Car Show. Great turn out, great weather.

06/25/09- My band Kill Switch...Klick was playing a show at the OK Hotel (Seattle) shortly after the news of Kurt Cobain's suicide (middle of April). Not being big Nivana fans we had a twisted cover of <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOL5cpwTkes">Come As You Are</a> in our set, in which I had sampled <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1oyfG6t2ew">Killing Joke's Eighties</a> (for those of you that don't remember Killing Joke had sued Nirvana, because the opening bass line for Come As You Are is very similar to the main guitar line in Eighties). So people laughed at the song and all was good fun. That night, halfway through Come As You Eighties the lights flickered and our side fill P.A. system went KAPOW! The show stopped and I told the audience to hang tight (the mic still worked) as I dug around the back of the system. A blown fuse was the culprit and after about 15 minutes we were up again. Same song, last verse...KAPOW! Another fuse had blown. I looked blankly at the band, who was looking blankly back at me. Now that never ever happened with our sound system. It was a Carvin, built like a tank. I joked to the audience "Maybe Kurt doesn't want us butchering his song." They laughed and right then I got a strange chill. I felt like someone was behind me (besides my drummer Mike). I changed the fuse and we skipped Come As You Eighties and finished the set without further incident. The whole night got me to thinking about Kurt Cobain and his musical legacy. I decided to pull the song from the set and guess what? We never blew a P.A. Amp fuse (on our system) again. No lie.

06/19/09- Just set up a Twitter page http://www.twitter.com/gokustom

06/18/09- We just signed a non-exclusive distribution deal for our CD & DVD titles with Victory Media. Should help get us up on Netflix, Block Buster, etc. This is additional distribution and will not effect any of our current outlets.

06/14/09- Peugeot took the overall win at Le Mans this year with their number 9 car driven by David Brabham (whose brother Gary won with Peugeot 16 years ago), Marc Gené and Alexander Wurz. I watched all yesterday afternoon on Speed Channel. This is a big deal for the French as the race is French and Peugeot is French. Love watching the night racing (because of the time difference it was afternoon Pacific Time). I was rooting for the Audi diesels but it was not in the cards. We also rented The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button. Great film, but a bit longish (hey that's what they say about my film!)

-

06/07/09- We had a blast on the film panel at this years Crypiticon. Got to show a 10 minute clip of Hot Rod Girls Save The World and then do a Q&amp;A session about the film and film making in general. Had around 80-90 attentive people in the Lopez Room where the panel was held. Before the panel, waiting outside to get in, I was talking with Adam Gerke (Traffic Guy from Seattle FOX Q13 TV) about his new Zombie film called The Book Of Zombie, about a Mormon only zombie disease that effects a small Mormon town. Funny. Also the guy next to me on the panel had won an oscar for best foreign documentary and was now making zombie films? Zombie is the new red. Anyway gave out tons of promo and Screener DVD's. Saw Shawn Shelton (who plays The Stranger in Hot Rod Girls) working the Costume &amp; Display Booths (Hi Shawn!). Also said hi to Adrienne Barbeau and nearly bumped into (literally) Troma Films guru Lloyd Kaufman. Good times.

Ditmore's Porsche

06/03/09- Kill Switch...Klick drummer and good friend, Mike Ditmore, has been busy building a Porshe Kit Car. He has a blog about it with progress pictures, etc. at http://mikestrporsche550build.blogspot.com/ Take a look and give him some Gearhead lovin'

06/01/09- Top Secret Weekend Photo Shoot. Spent all day Sunday helping with creative input for a photo shoot we set up for an article I am writing for Car Kulture Deluxe. Can't say much- it's kinda hush hush, but it includes some wicked Fords, Hot Rod Heidi and was shot by Mr.Ric Merry. This one is on the fast track so it should be in print very soon.

-

05/22/09- Completed the editing on an alternative ending for Hot Rod Girls Save The World. This ending will run after the credits on the second edition of Hot Rod Girls Save The World I will release this fall. Slightly different movie than the first edition that came out on DVD last December. Also been going through a bit of anxiety the last week and a half. Alot is going on with my wife's small business and building landlord, etc. Gotta keep calm. Not so easy with an economy that's ripping apart at the seems.

-

05/18/09-Made all the selections for our Hot Rod Monsters Film Festival this weekend. So I'm sitting outside Saturday and Sunday on a big blanket with my wife, enjoying our rental house and the Seattle weather (for once). Scribbling on papers and crumbling up other papers, banging on my calculator to get the films and shorts and music videos to fit as closely as possible in 2 hour slots. We have three slots per night. Great films and series including Hot Rod Havoc, Choppertown: The Sinners, Vintage Torque, Hot Rod Girls Save The World, Dreams Of Legends, Crash Fans, retarDEAD, Mondo Scooterama, etc, etc. It's going to be gearhead good time.

-

05/14/09 - Just finished a PG13 version of Hot Rod Girls Save The World. Takes about 21 hours to export the files and burn onto a master DVD-R. The first disc ended up having some minor problems so I did it again. Thank God I have two computers so I can switch over to my second system to keep working during the export/burn process. The only real difference between the regular version of HRGSTW and this PG013 Version is removal of a few F' words (most are left in) and one brief nude scene of Betty Petty. The PG-13 Version is also seven minutes shorter than the First Edition Version (current DVD run time 121 minutes) following the new edits I did for the Second Edition (run time- 114 minutes). I made a PG-13 Version to play outdoors at car show events. Don't want the kiddies to scream and cry. Does that make sense? I also hot some more films in for the Hot Rod Monsters Film Festival. i am screening them this week and weekend so the tickets can go on sale on Monday. Should be a great program. Lots of Hot Rod documentaries.

Rat Rod Rockers!

05/10/09 - An incredible day filming scenes and the trailer for my new film Rat Rod Rockers! Everybody worked hard and we finished two complete scenes and random bits for the trailer, which should be up on YouTube in the next week. I am really getting excited to get this bad boy finished...hopefully edited and ready to screen by Feb. 2010. Also watched fairly cool documentary called Tales Of The Rat Fink. A few too many Street Rods for my tastes, but excellent historical info Hot Rodding and Pop Culture. Is Hot Rodding an art form? Sometimes yes.

-

05/07/09 - Going through a mini-shoegazer music phase. Last month it was Funk (adding to my mp3 collection with new versions of Hollywood Swinging, Super Fly etc.) So I downloaded several My Bloody Valentine and Gliss albums. Also a bit of New York Art Rock with The Warlocks. I love music.

-

05/05/09 - Rain Rain Rain. Man is it comin' down outside! However- I do love the rain. Washes away all the dirt and crap. This was a decent storm. Many ties in Seattle we get overcast and drizzle, just enough to wreck the BBQ. Summers in Seattle can be perfection. Three months of 75-80 degree weather without a cloud in the sky. When I first moved up here in 1989, I worked at a Tower Records (remember those). It was cold and wet and dank. I asked one of my coworkers was it like this in the summer. He said, "Just wait and see. Its a Northwest secret. The best summers in all the continental U.S. are in Seattle." I didn't believe him as I watched the rain drops slowly slide down the buildings huge windows. Several months later his statements rang true. It was that summer that I forgot all about moving back to Los Angeles or migrating to New York and decided to stay in the Northwest.

Hot Rod Girls Save The World

05/03/09 - Wrote a new little surf punk instrumental (may add lyrics later) called 1964. The year the Beatles invaded the U.S.A., the introduction of the second generation HEMI by Chrysler, the introductions of the Barracuda, Mustang and GTO and the year I was born. I also completed the editing for the Alternative Ending for Hot Rod Girls Save The World. Still have to finish the audio, but should have it ready to export into the master file folder in a few days.

-

05/01/09 - May Day.

-

04/30/09 - So I open my e-mail this morning and stumble across a new one from SIFF (Seattle International Film Festival). I open it eagerly and ten read the first line- "We are sorry to inform you..." I stop and angrily delete the damn thing. So it looks like our Hot Rod Monsters Film Festival will be the Seattle premiere of Hot Rod Girls Save the World.

-

04/29/09 - Working all day on the alternative ending for the Second Edition of Hot Rod Girls Save The World. The Second Edition will have a main program 10 minutes shorter than the First Edition with the alternative ending coming after the end credits. The second version of the DVD will also be a dual layer disc (higher quality picture) with bonus features like deleted scenes and music videos. I'm hoping to have Hot Rod Girl Save The World (Second Edition) available late summer 2009.

04/25/09 - So my Google Alerts (if you didn't know, you can actually set up a Google Alert so any "key words" that pop up on Google's Monster Search Engine, Google will send you an alert with the link so you can see how the key words are being used on that page) comes up with a new review for my film Hot Rod Girls Save The World. I bounce over to the review page and low and behold it rips my film a new arse hole. The thing it, I can tell it is an honest review. The guy really didn't like my film. A part of myself is a little hurt and pissed off, but after twenty years in the music business I have seen it all. Bad reviews don't bother me as much as inacurate (misspelled on purpose) ones. I remember on our first album (band Kill Switch...Klick) this reviewer talked about our typical industrial "guitar sound." This really pissed me off, because we used no guitars- at all. I played an instrument I built and designed called a Slambar. It has open strings and I bang on it with two screw drivers. The guy ranted on about something he had no clue about. The review was not so bad, but it was that inaccuracy that really pissed me off. I sent him a "fuck you idiot" post card and his next review for our next album was much more accurate and calm. He even mentioned the postcard in this next review years later. Looking back I think I was a bit over reactive, but it's part of the learning curve.

So fast forward to this current bad review. Does it matter? Yes and no. Yes it helps me to get honest (at least in this case) feedback from people and how they feel about my film. No in that I can't change my film so that everybody will love it (especially film critics, who typically have a holier than thou attitude towards their subject matter). That "Film That Everybody Loves" can not exist in this world. I remember when I first became a Punk around 1981. All my Head Bangin' Buds thought I had truly lost it. I would play Talking Heads, PiL and Circle Jerks for them and they would all say how bad my new musical tastes were. They would say how these New Wave Punks couldn't play their guitars and needed voice lessons. Were they wrong. No- that was their uninformed opinion and everybody knows opinions are like assholes...everybody's got one. I think of Hot Rod Girls Save The World in this light. It's not for everyone, or even a majority of film viewers. It's a strange and unique film that was made for creativity's sake, not for money or Cannes or Oscars golden stare. It is slowly finding its own rabid audience and advocates much like early Punk Rock.

So how do I feel about my film? I honestly think it is the greatest fuckin' film ever made. I really do. I can watch it over and over (and have had to- during the editing process). It has all the elements I love in film- quirkiness, artistic integrity, gorgeous cinematography, great music, pretty girls, wicked cars, mud wrestling, aliens, zombies, car chases, fist fights, dry campy dialog, etc. etc. Am I allowed to love my own film? Ask David Lynch if he loves Eraserhead. Ask George Lucas if he loves THX-1138. I hope to make dozens more movies, but I know this will always be my favorite.

1967 Dodge Eliminator R/T

04/24/09 - Not satisfied with my Mini-Charger GT Concept I cobbled together from an old Dodge Charger press photo, I kept messing with it until I ended up with the "Dodge Eliminator R/T" poster you see here. Why you ask? I don't know. It's just kinda fun to mess around with Photoshop and Illustrator this way. As if I don't have enough stuff on my creative plate. Why the name "Eliminator" you ask? Isn't that a name Mercury used for a high performance Cougar you say? In fact that is correct. Mercury used the name in 1969- but Dodge actually had considered the name first, in the mid sixties as a potential name for their new pony car, which as we all know, ended up being called the "Challenger." You don't believe me you say? Read Paul C. Zazarine's book Barracuda & Challenger. Some great info on the Dodge and Plymouth Pony Cars. I also wrote another Dub tune called Dubnag. This stuff just falls out of me sometimes.

-

Dodge Charger GT

04/22/09 - This is one of my Phantom (What If) concept cars. What if Dodge decided to make a Coronet/Charger styled car to compete with the Mustang and Corvette ala AMC's AMX (i.e. making a two seater that doesn't look that different from some of the marques other cars).. The AMX was essentially a shorter version of the Javelin, so by shortening the wheelbase AMC got two cars for the cost of designing one. This is the basis for this concept- a Dodge Charger GT or Coronet Sport. Based on a shortened Dodge Dart chassis the Dodge Sports car would have a large engine bay, enabling all of Chryslers power plants to be available. MAybe I'll comission a 1/1 scale build someday.

-

defiers Car Club

04/21/09 - Getting the Car Club names and logos ready for Rat Rod Rockers! The town has several gang/car clubs that do all the dirty work for various local mobsters. The Defiers was one of my fave gang names and the first logo I designed. I used a St. Florian Cross with rounded edges. It does look a bit like the Firefighters Cross Logo, but what the hell it's only a movie. I do all the graphics for my films- logos and signs are actually a big part of prop and costume design for films.

-

CAmeron Black

04/19/09 - After his reading last week, we officially selected Cameron Black as one of the lead gang members for Rat Rod Rockers! Welcome aboard Cameron!

Oscar Is A Sissy

04/16/09 - I keep reading my film Hot Rod Girls Save The World will never win an Academy Award. All I gotta say is So what, Oscars are for sissies!

The Milldue Girls

The Milldue Girls

The Milldue Girls

The Milldue Girls

04/15/09 - Meet the Milldue's. We held an actors meeting last night for the girls of the fictitious "Milldue Family." They are some of the central characters of Rat Rod Rockers! We ran some lines, talked wardrobe and checked character chemistry. These kinds of meetings really help me in writing the screenplay.

-

Chicas Hot Rod Salvan el Mundo

04/14/09 - Just completed the Spanish Language DVD covers for Chicas Hot Rod Salvan el Mundo (Hot Rod Girls Save The World. The actual translation by Rubi Romero is half way complete and we will start overdubbing in the next few months.

Rat Rod Rockers Pre-Production Meeting

Rat Rod Rockers Pre-Production Meeting

04/12/09 - We had our second Rat Rod Rockers! pre-production meeting yesterday. Mostly discussing the shots we need for the movie trailer and locations. The farm house lead we had didn't pan out. Looks like we got a good crew for this film.

-

04/11/09 - Got a nice mention of Rat Rod Rockers! in eHemmings Motor News. Check it here.

-

Aeon Black reads Harold for Rat Rod Rockers!

04/10/09 - After two weeks of screen tests, we finally selected "Harold" for Rat Rod Rockers! His name is Aeon Black and his comedic take on Harold fit the bill. Only a few smaller parts to cast and we will be ready for character development for Rat Rod Rockers!

-

HRGSTW Comic Layout

04/08/09 - Started the basic layouts for the Hot Rod Girls Save the World graphic novel series. These are just stills from the film laid out for the illustrator, Lillian George who will use the stills as guides and draw the comic based on that.

-

Lance, Trixie & Lindsay

Lance, Trixie & Lindsay

03/27/09 - Go-Kustom TV went over to Old School Pin-Up Photography to interview Lance Wagner (photographer extraordinaire) and Trixie Lane (Stylist and Burlesque Vixen). Lance and Trixie have a great thing going and it was cool being able to finally interview them for GK TV.

-

Teri Aslett reading the part of Danielle

03/26/09 - Well we finally picked an actress for the part of "Danielle" in our upcoming film Rat Rod Rockers. Drum roll please....and our choice is...Teri Aslett. This really was a difficult decision. All of the gals that came over to read Danielle were excellent. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and talent around the greater Seattle area. Next we will be casting "Harold."

03/20/09 - Had a screen test with the talented Amy Escobar yesterday for the Rat Rod Rockers part for Danielle. We will make a decision on who gets the part next week.

-

03/19/09 - I just finished up the title theme for our new feature film Rat Rod Rockers. The actual music is based on a punk song called What Red Humor that I wrote back in the early 1980s and performed with my hardcore band Xijix all around SoCal. I recycled it in the1990s changing the lyrics and and title to Joy Ride. It was released under a side project I had at the time called Kardboard. For this latest incarnation of the song I went with a jangly Telecaster tone for the basic guitar tracks, then added a heavily compressed and over driven pair of stereo guitar tracks and finally a bluesy center track. Gives a big, full guitar sound. For the bass I played my little Bronco Bass with all the high end cut for that old school punk vibe. The drums were pieced together from one of my Betamonkey Loop Librarys. Love those guys drums. Also I finally completed the Reverend Horton Heat interview I did for CK Deluxe. I got behind on my writing due to my intestine problems late last month. I have a few articles in que for upcoming issues. I dig writing.

-

Stephanie Lor reading the part of Danielle

03/17/09 - Stephanie Lor came over to read the part of Danielle from Rat Rod Rockers this afternoon. Another excellent performance. We have several more screen tests and then have to make a decision on who gets the part.

-

Kerry Murphy as Ivan

03/16/09 - Sunday, Kerry Murphy came over to the studio for a screen test of Rat Rod Rockers Russian Mob Boss- Ivan. Like Hot Rod Heidi, he had already been selected for the part, so this was more for my own character reference and script writing than a try out. His Russian accent was almost perfect and he really conveys what I had in mind for Ivan. I also finished the audio sketch of the Rat Rod Rockers title theme. It's a hardcore punk ditty that clocks in at 200 BPM. I need it for the Rat Rod Rockers trailer we are putting together.

-

Zoe Kim reading the part of Danielle

03/15/09 - Yesterday we had another reading by Zoe Kim for the part of Danielle in Rat Rod Rockers. Yet another excellent performance. This is going to be a tough selection. We had one no show- very unprofessional. The part of Danielle is going to be physical. During the screen test I ask potential actresses to run around the room, read sections of script, fall down on a mat and punch my hand. Sounds strange- but it gives me an idea of what the actress looks like n motion.

-

03/14/09 - Well I made the plunge and using initial proceeds from Hot Rod Girls Save The World- purchased a 2500 lumen DVD projector, 20x10 outdoor screen (with frame) and 1/4 mile FM Transmitter. Find a big parking lot with power source and viola- instant Drive-In. I want to tour HRGSTW across the U.S., showing it for free, hopefully selling a few DVDs on the way. We will Beta Test the Go-Kustom Gorilla Drive-In in a few weeks. I also have a 900 watt PA to set up in backyards and parks. I am cutting some of the language and the one brief nudity scene to make HRGSTW more family friendly. When you show your film in open settings you never know who's watching and you want to limit the complaints. PG13 baby! Also national magazine Rebel Rodz had a little blurb about Hot Rod Girls Save The World. Not a review but rather a product announcement. Still they printed the cover art and took up half a page to do it. It's all good.

Teri Aslett reading the part of Danielle

Teri Aslett reading the part of Danielle

Lezlie Ann Moore reading the part of Danielle

03/13/09 - Wednesday & Thursday I held the first screen tests for the Rat Rod Rockers lead character Danielle. I was pleasantly surprised by the first two actresses Teri Aslett and Lezlie Ann Moore. This is going to be a tough decision. We still have several more gals that will read next week.

-

Hot Rod Heidi reads the part of Ruby

03/11/09 - Yesterday Hot Rod Heidi who is playing Ruby in our new feature film Rat Rod Rockers, came over to do a bit of screen testing. Since I have only written the synopsis and select scenes to date, working with the actors gives me dialog direction for the character as I am writing their scenes. I also like working with my actors for character development detail. I feel that if an actor puts a bit of themselves into the character, the portrayal is much more realistic, it has to be. Almost like kustom fitting the scene to the actor. We are casting Ruby's daughter in the next few weeks. Their relationship is key to this films success.

Rat Bastards CC

03/08/09 - Putting the finishing editing touches on the 2008 Seattle Roadster Show segment we did last year for Go-Kustom TV. Great interviews with Candy Clark (Debbie from American Graffiti), Lance Lambert of The Vintage Vehicle Show and various Hot Rod owners- including Ron and Ken Foreman from the Rat Bastards Car Club. The segment will be up on You Tube sometime next week.

03/04/09 -Tonight is the world premiere of Hot Rod Girls Save The World on the big screen! We are set for a midnight showing at the acclaimed Seventh Annual Backseat Film Festival in Philly, PA.. We have had several low profile private screenings of the film, but this is the first public event. I wish I could be there...

Till That Day

03/04/09- New Invisible Surfers CD On Temp. Hold. The new Invisible Surfers CD entitled Till That Day is on temporary hold while we rework the submasters. Seems guitarist Alex found a little skip that missed our mastering editors ears. The little skip is not in the master files, but ended up on one of the submaster burn copies, that went to the pressing plant. This pushes the official release back until April 2009. A lot of scrambling on the part of the pressing plant and digital distribution company to recall the tracks before they hit iTunes with the skip. It was only on one track, but we want this to be a perfect debut, -by an -outstanding band.

-More Seattle Snow Feb. 26th, 2009

02/26/09 - So I'm sitting in the ER looking at a blank TV screen with the pain medication starting to take effect, wondering if I will need surgery. This was last Monday morning. Rewind. I had spent the whole evening tossing and turning with massive abdominal pains. It started shortly after my wife and I went to bed, as a strong stinging sensation just below my stomach. At first I thought it was some kind of constipation, but it wouldn't go away. By 5 AM I called 911, mostly because I was worried it could be appendicitis. The Paramedics came almost immediately and gave me the once over. They recommended I go to the ER because I still had my appendix. My wife drove me the four blocks to the Hospital. She checked me in and waited with me until they assigned me a room. Then she reluctantly left in order to open our business and take our kids to school. I assured her I would be OK. I then proceeded to sit in my little room, in intense pain as nurses and doctors looked me up and down and the man in the next room kept screaming from a very high delusional fever. They shot me up with pain killers, which reduced, but did not eliminate the burning, stinging sensations in my abdomen and groin. They made me drink this icky lemonade, then rolled me in for a cat scan. Back in my room as I was dozing off, when my wife and daughter appeared. They looked a little sad and upset. As my wife later told me, "I left and you were sitting in a chair, I come back an hour later and your hooked up to an IV, half passed out and lethargic in the rolling bed." At that point we had no news, so after several worried hugs and kisses, my wife proceeded to take my daughter to school (she had already dropped our son). I slept until noon, when the doctor came in with the results. Seems it wasn't kidney stones or appendicitis, but a swollen and inflamed intestine. No surgery today! But I would have to do a follow up with my doctor (whom I can't see right now because our Health Plan has been temporarily suspended until we finish and submit our 2007 tax returns...yes 2007...it's a long story). My wife picked my up and dropped me at home where I lay sleeping and writhing in pain for most of the week. During my forced date with the TV and couch, I saw a really comprehensive TV program about the recent economic meltdown produced by CNBC entitled "House Of Cards." Very insightful as to exactly what led us to this current financial tipping point. It wasn't just the banks or unsavory potential home owners buying into mortgages that were beyond their means that created all this mess. It was a combination of things, fueled by greed and lack of oversight. When we bought our house back in 2000, we thankfully missed out on all this subprime fun. We ended up selling in 2004 for a decent price and now rent a smaller sized house. We intend on buying again, when our credit scores heal and the dust settles (four or so years from now) from all this. So yesterday (Wednesday) I keep getting these really sharp pains in the same spot, usually right before I fart, or if I wait too long to go piss. I haven't pooped since Sunday (but I also haven't been eating much). This is still worrisome as I usually have a BM two to three times a day. Very regular kinda guy (too much information...I know). So I get some Exlax and chew a few . Several hours later I get the same sharp pains, run to the bathroom and Poop Poop, Splash Splash out comes the Poopy! So today the sharp, intense pains are gone. Those ones really sucked because they would build and build and cramp and burn and then just when you thought you couldn't stand it anymore (this was on the pain killer meds BTW), it would stop. Now as I sit writing this little blurb I have a dull, itchy pain in my abdomen. I run our off pain meds tomorrow and am on antibiotics until next week. I still need to get to a doctor for a follow up. Was all this some crazy kind of constipation? Like the U.S. Economy? Strange parallel.

HRGSTW Official Selection

02/20/09 - Finished the "Official Selection" graphic for Hot Rod Girls Save The World. The film is doing really well. It's only been out a few weeks and already it's got into several festivals sales are brisk on DVD and more distributors are picking it up each week.

-

02/19/09 - When I die the things I will miss most are...
My wife's kisses.
My son's jokes and antics.
My daughter's songs and stories.
The feeling of bass strings on my fingers and the sounds they make.
Driving late at night with the radio on.
Discovering new things- especially where they shouldn't be.
Trees on the beach.
Dreaming about the perfect 1967 Dodge Charger.
An entertained audience...that I made that way.
The time right before sunset.

-

2011 Charger?

02/16/09 - Is this the new Dodge Charger? Not bad- but the front seems kinda pointy. Old Chargers had a blunt nose. New Camaro-ish?

-

HRGSTW Soundtrack & Incidental Music

02/15/09 - Got the cover art finished for the next Hot Rod Girls Save The World CD. This one is a two CD set featuring both the KsK - Soundtrack disc and Hot Rod Girls Save The World - Music & Mayhem disc. Pretty much all the music from the film.

-

Backseat Film ZFestival

02/14/09 - Had a excellent meeting with Go-Kustom's new Spanish Language Coordinator- Rubi Romero yesterday. Rubi's first job will be translating Hot Rod Girls Save The World into Spanish. She will also be the voice actress for the lead Vanessa Trojan character of the film. We also just got word Hot Rod Girls Save The World has been accepted into the Seventh Annual Backseat Film Festival in Philly. We are excited!

02/13/09 - Last night we came home a little late as we often do. We ate our dinner and settled into a little bit of TV as we often do. I went into our bedroom to get a blanket from our bed so my wife and I could get cozy on the couch. Our cats, two identical, ten year old, long haired Main Coone sisters named Ella Fitzgerald and DeeDee Bridgewater, were sleeping on our bed as the often do. Ella is the "alpha" cat and besides being a great family friend, had inadvertently become one of the stars of my film Hot Rod Girls Save The World. She is a people lover and had a cuddly lap thing for actress J Maki (who played punk rock granny, Nell in the film). Every few minutes during filming J's scenes, Ella would sneak into the room and jump up onto J's lap. Rather than fight it- I decided Nell should have a cat (most Grannys do). Ella was a natural animal actress who loved all the attention. In one scene we had Nell (who's character is blind) pour milk for her kitty, unknowingly dumping milk all over the cats head. Ella loved it! She drank so much milk that day that she had the runs for two days after! Back to the present...as I slowly pulled the blanket corner out from under Ella, I noticed she flopped over and didn't complain at me for rearranging "her" bed as she normally does. She rolled upright and sat quietly with her eyes closed. I didn't think much of it and walked into the living room with the blanket. As I sat down next to my wife on the sofa, I noticed the lovely smell of cat piss coming up from the blanket. This is a rare occurrence in our home (thankfully). Ella has been sick for the last three months. The Vet said it was Feline Jaundice. Ella had no infection or kitty disease, but her liver was not working properly. No one knew why. The Vet assured us she would be weak, but not in any serious pain and we should just wait it out to see if she got better or not. She has been hanging in there. A week ago she was almost attacked by one of our dogs- which never happens in our house. Ella is quick and thinks she is a Pit Bull so our dogs (and the neighborhood dogs) leave her alone. After the near attack we kept her in our bedroom so the dogs would not bother her again. She slept alot and loved cuddling with my wife and I at night. She had trouble getting up on the sofa every so often, but had been eating regularly. We knew she was sick, but got used to pampering her just a little more than usual. After I dropped the first blanket in the washing machine, I went back into the bedroom to get another. I figured Ella had had the accident on the blanket because she was having trouble getting off the bed. As I walked in the room, I saw Ella, face down in the remaining blankets on the bed. She was having difficulty breathing. I reached down to pet her and she let out a desperate cat scream, a sound I had only heard from her when she was a kitten getting her first flea bath. She was afraid. I sat down next to her and stoked her back. I called my wife who came running in with the kids. Ella let out another yowl. We knew she was dying. My wife grabbed a blanket and wrapped her up cradling her to comfort her and keep her warm. Ella relaxed but began gasping for breath. Her tongue was hanging out of her mouth. My wife started to cry, the kids started to cry, I started to cry. We talked about taking her to the Vet to have her put to sleep, but Ella really hated riding in the car and we didn't want to put her through that. I talked to her softly and I told the kids we have to tell Ella it's OK for her to go now. I told them she has to feel that we will be OK if she goes now. I have heard that many pets hang on to life past their "due date" because they are worried about leaving their family. They fear their family will not survive without them. I wanted to make sure Ella had our blessings to go in peace. Ellas eyes weren't blank and her head drooped lifeless. My wife continue to cradle her for forty minutes after her breathing stopped to make sure Ella had passed. I went outside with my son and dug a grave. We buried her in the cold winter ground saying a quick prayer before I covered her over. It is hard to measure the effect our pets have on us. I was amazed at how Ella seemed to wait until we were all there to say goodbye. She was a huge part of our lives for over ten years. She made us laugh when her and her sister would romp and play around the house. She made us worried when she followed my wife on a walk and got lost in the woods. She made us angry when she spontaneously attacked our dog Whisper, for no real reason. During my last depression- I would pick her up and her content purring would make me feel a little more content. I will miss our Ella. Goodnight my little bodhisattva kitty- Goodnight Ella cat..

02/10/09 - More snow. No slippery roadways, but I think we are breaking records for Seattle Snowfall!

Snow Ho Ho

02/09/09 - Walking out of the recording studio last night at 1AM and the snow is coming down! No warning at all. The snow was really icy and stuck immediately. So I slid on down the hill from the studio to our house (we only live four blocks from the studio) and woke my wife to show her. She was not so happy to wake up at 1AM but was diggin' the snow. She's originally from Siberia, so she has this thing for snow...ya know?

02/08/09 - Had our first pre-production meeting for Rat Rod Rockers yesterday night. Good turn out. Looks like we will be able to get all needed locations and actors set for our August-September shooting schedule. I want this film in theaters by January 2010.

02/06/09 - Just Posted The First Ten Minutes Of Hot Rod Girls Save The World to YouTube. This is the YouTube link- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWSV0tG4YZ0 The You Tube playback looks a bit grainy and jittery compared to the actual movie which is clean clean clean. I tried using different compressors, but it is up the way it is up...know whadeyemean? It might be the pulldown. The film was shot at 24 frames per second. Most video playback is 30 frames.

02/05/09 -Finished a little telephone interview with the incredible Rev. Horton Heat yesterday for Car Kulture Deluxe. He is currently on tour with his band- blasting through Colorado. The Rev is such an iconic figure in modern rock music I was actually a little nervous before I called him. He was most gracious and very easy to talk to. Look for the interview in an upcoming issue of Car Kulture Deluxe. Also he gave me a big big scoop on his new album...so all you Rev Heads keep your eyes peeled that issue! Oh yea- I got my Clearwire modem yesterday! We have been living with dial-up both at home and in the studio. I was trying to upload the first ten minutes of Hot Rod Girls Save The World to my You Tube pages and I ended up going to Kinkos, and that didn't work (not enough time). Then I took the family to an internet cafe and that took to long (the file is 300 megs). So when I got home, I jumped on the intranet and ordered a Clearwire package. It came the next day. So far so good. Plug and play. I am online so much for my rekord label and film company that it was torturous using the dial-up connection. I feel liberated (at least internet wise).

02/01/09- Had a blast at the Rat Bastards Car Club screening of Hot Rod Girls Save The World. Good turnout and everybody was very friendly. This is so much cooler than Hollywood...ya know? Grass Roots Indie-Film promotion at its best. Thanks guys (and gals) for inviting me out!

01/31/09- Went over to Lance Wagner & Trixie Lanes to do a quick photo shoot with Lance. Quite painless and got some great shots for the old Directors Promo Folder. Lance and Trixie also run Old School Pin-Up in Seattle doing all kind of Pin-Up Photography, a Burlesque Dance School and a myriad of other cool projects. I would have to say they are one of the most creative couples I know!

FIBERGLASS FIAT BODY WITH A HEMI POWER PLANT. UNSTOPPABLE IN 1967, SAVING CHRYSLER IN 2009?

01/24/09- Hemi Fiat Revisited
So I've been reading on several Auto Sites that Chrysler and Fiat have come to a business deal. Fiat gets a 35% stake in Chrysler (no money is changing hands it's all on paper) in exchange for Chrysler getting Fiats small car technology. Sounds like a match made in heaven, as opposed to the "Merger of Equals" strip and flip deal by the Daimler. Talk about a bad marriage (been there done that). The Fiat merger makes sense. Virtually no overlap in product and Fiat can use vacant Chrysler plants to build (using American workers) Fiat in the Good Ol' U.S.A. After reading this, I was thumbing through a Christmas book gift my family gave me called Fuel Altereds Forever by Steve Reyes. In it were page after page of Fiat bodied Hemi powered Altereds. I thought- "Man now isn't that appropriate."

01/17/09- What a week! Spiced up two of the Go-Kustom MySpace pages
http://www.myspace.com/gokustomfilms
http://www.myspace.com/gokustomrekords
and added a new one for Kill Switch...Klick @ http://www.myspace.com/ksk33
and D.A. Sebasstian & The Iner Demons @ http://www.myspace.com/dasinnerdemons
Also Helen Tigh turned out to be the fifth Cylon! That ho? After several years of BSG I can't believe where this is all going. Very interesting story lines- but man I never thought they'd end up here. Like Dallas meets Star Wars! Tigh and the Number 6 was hard to fathom. Now their

01/13/09- Trying To Get A Handle On All My Media Output
For years I have not promoted our MySpace pages. The only reason we kept it going at all was thanks to some Divine Intervention from Super Amanda (Thanks Super!). Now that Hot Rod Girls Save The World is edited and out I am trying to get all my media working. I have several blogs, our regular Go-Kustom website, five MySpace pages (band, movie, personal, film company and record label), a Google Group, a presence on Pinuplifestyle.com and Pinupparkinglot.com so how do I get this all working in sync? I am still not sure. I did get the new Go-Kustom Catalog up and running at
http://www.go-kustom.com/catalog.html

-

01/10/09- Makin' more ads for the movie. Also revamped the catalog pages- adding new "buy it" buttons and putting all items on sale directly through Go-Kustom via Paypal. Cut out the middle man I say!

-

01/06/09- Created a new skyscraper ad for Hot Rod Girls and our On-line Campaign.

-

01/05/09- More snow last night. Beautiful to look at, not so fun to drive in. Actually it wasn't' so bad this morning as I took the kids to school. Both had late starts. I think this will be a record snowfall this winter. Finished the first new add for Hot Rod Girls Save The World last night. I am using a still of the Dahmer Gang after they beat the crap out of Jason The Pin-Head. In the film this scene is colorized, but it looks more dramatic in black and white.
